The excess deposition of extracellular matrix (ECM) molecules such as collagens (COLs), fibronectin (FN) and others to TM appears to cause elevation of IOPs in both primary open glaucoma (POAG) as well as steroid-induced glaucoma (SG)31 based upon several studies using animal model as well as TM cell culture19,32. This evidence concerns the gene FN1 and open-angle glaucoma.
