ETV7 and breast carcinoma: Given the observation that the over-expression of ETV7 could modulate breast cancer stem-like cells content in both MCF7 and T47D cells, and that this effect was reflected by a strong repression of a signature of IFN-responsive genes at the transcriptional level, we hypothesized that, if the repression of the IFN-responsive genes was responsible for the observed biological effects, the stimulation of their expression by treatment with IFNs could possibly reverse the breast cancer stem-like cell plasticity related to ETV7 expression.
