Although LARP1, which was identified as being enriched in pulldowns using the poly(A) motif 4, showed no identified abnormal hematopoietic phenotype in mouse models, it is a RBP recently noted to be lost in the 5q− syndrome, a type of macrocytic anemia caused by monoallelic deletion of a region that encompasses the Larp1 gene in humans (55). The gene discussed is LARP1; the disease is macrocytic anemia.
