When the ALDH2*1/*2 and ADH1B*2/*2 combination was used as a reference, the increased number of ALDH2*1 allele and ADH1B*1 allele in the genotype combinations resulted in the higher ORs of alcohol dependence, and the OR (95%CI) by the ADH1B*1/*1 and ALDH2*1/*1 combination was the highest (46.7 [24.8–88.2] in men and 31.8 [13.7–73.8] in women). This evidence concerns the gene ADH1B and alcohol dependence.
