A multivariate model including both the alcohol flushing status and the ALDH2 and ADH1B genotype combinations showed that the alcohol flushing status and the ADH1B and ALDH2 genotype combinations were strong independent strong risk factors of alcohol dependence in both men and women, though each OR in this model was lower than that in a model that included the alcohol flushing status alone or the genotype combinations alone. Here, ADH1B is linked to alcohol dependence.
