Ranjan et al. (2013) synthesized starch-capped silver-based NPs. These NPs promoted apoptosis of HCT116 cells in a p53-dependent manner, by inducing increase in p53, p21 and Caspases 3, 8, and 9, and decrease in AKT and NF-κB (Satapathy et al., 2013). These metal-based NPs can be modified to improve effectiveness in drug delivery. Ghalandari et al.
