In this study we aim to expand the spectrum of investigated NETosis related products to NE, PR3, MPO, peptidyl arginine deiminase 4 (PAD4) – an enzyme which facilitates chromatin decondensation vital for NET formation, LL37 – an antimicrobial cathelicidin, and DNA-histone complexes and assess their levels in the serum of a cohort of patients at the onset of T1D, with well-established disease and in their first-degree relatives, both autoantibody positive and negative. The gene discussed is CAMP; the disease is type 1 diabetes mellitus.
