MPO and type 1 diabetes mellitus: Indeed, we were able to detect high levels of myeloperoxidase (MPO) (Figure 2A, Brown-Forsythe and Welch ANOVA p = 0.0024), neutrophils elastase (NE) (Figure 2B, p = 0.0005) and proteinase 3 (PR3) (Figure 2C, p < 0.0001), enzymes widely present in NET structures and released during the degranulation process, in the sera of T1D patients and their relatives, compared to healthy controls.
