CAMK2G and cardiac hypertrophy: Astragalus membranaceus contains an active component called Astragalus polysaccharide (APS), which has been shown to play an essential role in anti-myocardial hypertrophy by targeting the Ca2+-mediated signaling cascade, including prevention of hypertrophy-related NFATc3 nuclear translocation and downregulation of calmodulin-dependent protein kinase II (CaMKII) activity (Dai et al., 2014).
