VIM and cancer: To examine whether the phenotypic alteration induced by the vimentin-binding compound R491 would result in inhibition on cancer cell growth, various types of human cancer cells, including A549, AGS, U87, SMMC-7721, HUH7, and PANC-1 were treated with the compound R491 at concentrations up to 10μM, no growth inhibition was observed in any of these cells at any concentrations (Figure 2A).
