PFKFB3 and Friedreich ataxia: The key role of PFKFB3 in the FA pathway was noticeable andPFKFB3 inhibition reduced chromatin association of the FANCD2-FANCI complex and abolished FANCD2 foci formation (Figure 4, Figure 6 and Figure S6a,b), both consistent with the idea that the FANCD2-FANCI complex needs to be associated to DNA to be monoubiquitinated [13]; this posttranslational modification is required for FANCD2 foci formation [14].
