When a literature search was conducted from PubMed updated until June 2020 for studies involved measuring levels of MCP-1 and IL-8 in the AH of patients undergoing surgical procedure, numerous studies in the recent 10 years have demonstrated that levels of MCP-1 and IL-8 are elevated in the AH of patients with POAG and hypertensive anterior uveitis such as Posner-Schlossman syndrome and Fuchs’ heterochromic uveitis (Supplementary Table S1), in which HSV-1 and CMV infection is an important causative factor. This evidence concerns the gene CXCL8 and open-angle glaucoma.
