To investigate whether the early IFN-γ burst and increased NKT cell activation contributes to the decreased survival of MIL-RPpyRE9/DsRed, infections were carried out in BALB/c mice and/or C57Bl/6 treated with an anti-IFN-γ or an anti-CD1d antibody to neutralize CD1d-mediated lipid antigen presentation to NKT cells. Here, CD1D is linked to infection.
