Ang II-induced endothelial dysfunction triggers the expression of vascular adhesion molecules, such as intracellular adhesion molecule-1 (ICAM-1) and vascular cellular adhesion molecule-1 (VCAM-1), and chemokines such as monocyte chemoattractant protein-1 (MCP-1) (also known as chemokine (C-C motif) ligand 2 (CCL2)), chemokine (C-X-C motif) ligand 1 (CXCL1), and C-C motif chemokine ligand 5 (CCL5) [8, 9]. Here, CXCL1 is linked to endothelial dysfunction.
