We found that PIKfyve is acylated by the two acyltransferases, zDHHC9/21, which are highly expressed in the brain and are associated with neurodegenerative diseases (Fukata & Fukata, 2010; Young et al, 2012; Hornemann, 2015; Cho & Park, 2016). Here, PIKFYVE is linked to neurodegenerative disease.
