CCR2 and infection: Several studies have underlined the importance of CCR2-dependent recruitment of inflammatory cells for the control of intracellular pathogens: CCR2-/- mice were significantly more susceptible to i.v. infection with Listeria (13), i.v. infection with M. tuberculosis (15), s.c. infection with WNV (16), intranasal infection with HSV (51) and Histoplasma capsulatum (52), and oral or i.p. infection with Toxoplasma (53, 54).
