Consistent with prior studies, the pneumonic infection model resulted in 5-fold to 50-fold increases in numbers of neutrophils (CD11b+/CD115–/Ly6Ghigh), T cells (CD45+/CD3+), B cells (CD45+/B220+), and natural killer cells (CD45+/CD3–/NK1.1+) in the lungs (Figure 3, panels A–D) and in the nasal cavities (Figure 3, panels E–H) relative to control mice.
