A bone marrow biopsy was conducted, which showed myelodysplasia with an excess blast of 13% and hypercellular marrow (80%), and flow cytometry showed positivity for CD34 positive myeloblast and CD117 erythroblast ruling in MDS, but evidence of acute myeloid leukemia (AML) was ruled out. This evidence concerns the gene CD34 and acute myeloid leukemia.
