ROP, a major cause of neurodevelopmental disability in premature infants,1,12,13 has a biphasic pathogenesis with vaso-obliteration in Phase 1 and neovascularization in Phase 2, making it an ideal model14 to elucidate the mechanism of VEGF-A dysregulation in proliferative retinopathies.
