TLR4 and infection: showed that both Eritoran (administered 2 h post-infection by intravenous inoculation), as well as another TLR4 inhibitor, epigallocatechin-3-gallate [EGCG (37)], a polyphenol naturally found in green tea (38), prolonged survival of mice infected with H9N2 influenza when administered after infection by oral gavage, and that treatment with Eritoran or EGCG diminished H9N2-induced ALI (39).
