Investigation of the therapeutic effect of efatutazone (an oral peroxisome proliferator-activated receptors (PPAR) agonist) using lung adenocarcinoma cells showed that efatutazone treatment increased mRNA and protein expression of PPAR-gamma, LxR-alpha and ABCA1, suggesting that efatutazone functions through the PPAR-gamma/LxR-alpha/ABCA1 pathway and that PPAR-gamma-LxR alpha pathway could mediate the expression of ABCA1 transporter [24]. This evidence concerns the gene PPARG and lung adenocarcinoma.
