To date, few studies have attempted to characterize the interactions between PNPLA3 genotype status and dietary intake in adult populations (for exceptions see Scorletti et al., 2015 [24], Stojkovic et al., 2014 [25], and Liangpunsakul et al., 2017 [26]); however, to our knowledge, interactions have yet to be investigated in MO adults specifically, despite their higher risk for NAFLD. This evidence concerns the gene PNPLA3 and metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease.
