The risk factor that was most highly correlated with postoperative mortality was albumin <3.5 g/dL (OR: 7.477, 95% CI: 5.251-10.646, P < .0001), followed by diabetes (OR: 1.853, 95% CI: 1.251-2.742, P < .0001), BMI ≥40 kg/m2 (OR: 1.398, 95% CI: 0.672-2.906, P = .9183), and tobacco use (OR: 1.216, 95% CI: 0.63-2.348, P = .6934). This evidence concerns the gene ALB and diabetes mellitus.
