Overexpression of mechanical sensitive miR-337-3p mitigates ectopic ossification in rat tendinopathy model via targeting insulin receptor substrate 1 (IRS1) and NADPH oxidase 4 (Nox4) of tendon derived stem cells, which not only provides a new understanding of the molecular mechanism of heterotopic ossification in tendinopathy, but also emphasizes the significance of miR-337-3p as a recognized therapeutic target for the clinical treatment of tendinopathy (Geng et al., 2020). The gene discussed is NOX4; the disease is disease of the tendon.
