Demographic and clinical factors independently associated with ROP include: low GA (OR, 13.11; 95% CI, 5.90–29.15 ≤ 28 vs. > 32 weeks; P < 0.001), low BW (OR, 9.65; 95% CI, 4.64–20.06 <1,000 vs. ≥ 1,500 g; P < 0.001), low weight growth rate (OR, 2.65; 95% Cl, 1.49–4.72 ≤ 12 vs. > 18 g/d; P = 0.001), blood transfusion (OR, 2.03; 95% CI, 1.14–3.64; P = 0.017), invasive mechanical ventilation (OR, 1.74; 95% CI, 1.15–2.66; P = 0.009) and NT-proBNP ≥25,000 ng/L (OR, 1.51; 95% Cl, 1.00–2.28; P = 0.048). This evidence concerns the gene NPPB and retinopathy of prematurity.
