Strikingly, the ectopic overexpression of ZNF217-ΔE4 in breast cancer cells led to: (i) a more aggressive phenotype, similar to that previously observed with ZNF217-WT (4, 5); (ii) increased expression of endogenous ZNF217-WT; and (iii) decreased DNA methylation on key CpG sites within the ZNF217 gene. This evidence concerns the gene ZNF217 and breast carcinoma.
