Some studies have reported that increased ADAMTS13 levels are risk factors for various diseases such as diabetes (Domingueti et al., 2013), preeclampsia (Cines and Levine, 2017), liver cirrhosis (Uemura et al., 2010), and thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (Levy et al., 2001) because of the imbalance between ADAMTS13 and von Willebrand factor (VWF) levels in circulation. The gene discussed is VWF; the disease is diabetes mellitus.
