β-site APP cleaving enzyme 1-AS functions as a competing endogenous RNA (ceRNA), sharing miRNA-response elements with BACE1, including miR-29, miR-107, miR-124, miR-485, and miR-761, and positively regulates BACE1 expression in subjects with AD (Faghihi et al., 2008; Modarresi et al., 2011; Zeng et al., 2019).
