CSF3 and neoplasm: If the function of NETs is determined by the neutrophil phenotype, it may help to explain the seeming paradox that Bacillus Calmette-Guerin (BCG)-induced NETs formation prevent tumor growth and migration while NETs induced by G-CSF promote tumor growth since BCG vaccination has been shown to induce trained immunity in neutrophils [81] whereas G-CSF was shown to direct neutrophil polarization toward the N2 phenotype [82].
