Myeloid-derived suppressor cells (MDSCs) alter the function of CD8+ T cells through numerous mechanisms including a (i) decrease in arginine and cysteine production in the TME, (ii) reduced transport of T cells into the lymph node and tumor, (iii) production of free radicals that ultimately block TCR and IL-2 signaling, inducing T cell death and expansion of Tregs (155).
