IFN-γ: the Th1 cells that produce IFN-γ activate macrophages and are associated with autoimmune diseases, including BD.7 In one study that assessed the role of cytokines in BD uveitis, it was found that IFN-γ levels in the aqueous humor of patients with BD were significantly higher than in that of patients with BD, but without uveitis.11 The gene discussed is IFNG; the disease is autoimmune disease.
