TNF and Opportunistic infection: Cryptococcosis is frequently reported in patients with sarcoidosis,[5,12] which occurs as an opportunistic infection due to administration of immunosuppressive drugs such as steroids, methotrexate, azathioprine, and cyclophosphamide and tumor necrosis factor alpha inhibitors.[18,19] In addition, sarcoidosis itself is considered to be an independent risk factor for cryptococcal infections.[20] Sarcoidosis forms noncaseating granulomas; however, diagnosis of cryptococcosis may be overlooked if it concurrently occurs.
