CST3 and Stroke: Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a risk factor for cerebrovascular accidents and is also closely connected to subclinical cerebrovascular abnormalities (such as asymptomatic cerebral infarction) and cognitive impairment.[4–6] A prospective cohort study in 2009 showed that elevated biomarkers, including serum creatinine (Scr) and Cystatin C (Cys C), were independent predictors of mortality and poor prognosis in cerebrovascular accident in patients with CKD.[7] In another study, renal disorder was also confirmed to be closely connected to the occurrence of stroke.
