Dividing patients to non-small cell and small cell lung cancer groups, the Cox-regression analysis did not show significant correlation between survivin concentrations and survival parameters (p = 0.60 for progression-free survival and p = 0.16 for overall survival in NSCLC; p = 0.06 for PFS and p = 0.07 for OS in SCLC), although, in the case of SCLC there was a tendency for higher survivin levels associating with worse outcomes. This evidence concerns the gene BIRC5 and non-small cell lung carcinoma.
