Finally, the intestinal permeability was investigated, showing an increased permeability for 4 kDa FITC-dextran in colitis mice (Figure 7A) associated with a decreased mRNA level of junctional proteins Cldn1, Cldn2, Cdh1 and Ocln (Figures 7B–E) and an unaltered expression of scaffolding protein Zo1 (Figure 7F).
