KDR and neoplasm: Apatinib, a novel receptor tyrosine kinase inhibitor that selectively targets VEGF receptor 2 (VEGFR2), has been shown to inhibit VEGF-mediated endothelial cell migration, proliferation, and tumor microvascular density.18 A phase 3 study showed that apatinib compared with placebo improved OS and progression-free survival in patients with chemotherapy-refractory advanced or metastatic adenocarcinoma of the stomach or GEJ.19
