In a different experiment involving the Wnt pathway, genistein led to demethylation of the CpG island of Wnt5a, a Wnt antagonist, and induction of re-expression of Wnt5a to inhibit proliferation of colon cancer cells (169); notably, these changes facilitated Wnt5a-associated demethylation regulation in early tumor cells, which may be a method for early intervention in colon cancer. This evidence concerns the gene WNT5A and neoplasm.
