The immunohistochemistry staining demonstrated that the combined treatment inhibited AKT/Wnt/β-catenin signal and reduced the tumor stemness in HCC xenografts, while the Wnt activator CHIR99021 restored the Wnt/β-catenin signal and tumor stemness (Fig. 5G), suggesting that the AKT/GSK3β/β-catenin signaling was critical for the synergistic effect of the combination treatment on HCC cells.
