LEP and breast cancer: It also serves as an endocrine organ, secreting adipokines such as leptin and adiponectin, cytokines like interleukins and TNF-α, chemokine CXCL-8 amongst others, growth factors including but not limited to vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and IGF, and other factors such as aromatase, all of which are associated with breast cancer [98–100].
