Over the past decade, the spectrum of hypoglycemic drugs has increased enormously following the development of dipeptidyl peptidase 4 (DPP-4) inhibitors, glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonists, and sodium-glucose cotransporter-2 (SGLT2) inhibitors, allowing individualization of antidiabetic therapy for patients with type 2 diabetes [23].
