Higher concentrations of PTH have been associated with advanced stages of HF according to categories of the New York Heart Association (NYHA) (8, 9), reduced left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) (8), and elevated brain natriuretic peptide (BNP) or N-terminal propeptide of BNP (NT-proBNP) (10–12). The gene discussed is NPPB; the disease is hydrops fetalis.
