Remarkably, although Tau aggregation of AD is taking place in the cytosol, it is the mitochondrial tumor necrosis factor receptor-associated protein 1 (TRAP1) that is most severely down-regulated in all regions of the brain, with a reduction of 31% in the sensory cortex, 27% in the hippocampus and 21% in the cingulate gyrus (Figure 1B) (Koopman and Rüdiger, 2020). This evidence concerns the gene TRAP1 and Alzheimer disease.
