Thanks to this new methodology, and according to all well-reported data mentioned above, we observed that the CD5 expression level was increased with the expansion of a specific CLL subpopulation, in our case the unmutated VH1-69 clone, and this could be part of the mechanism of clonal expansion and persistence during the observation, representing additional information for CLL prognosis. The gene discussed is CD5; the disease is B-cell chronic lymphocytic leukemia.
