A study found that overexpression of KDM1A induces E2F1 signaling via histone demethylation and promotes cell proliferation in oral cancer and that inhibition of KDM1A reduces E2F1 signaling, implying an oncogenic role of KDM1A in oral cancer (Narayanan et al., 2015). This evidence concerns the gene E2F1 and lip and oral cavity carcinoma.
