ANK3 and autism spectrum disorder: In line with its predominant neurological functions, pathogenic variants in ANK3 have been linked to a broad range of neurological diseases, such as autism spectrum disorder (ASD), schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and, more recently, intellectual disability (ID), epileptic encephalopathy, and behavioral abnormalities including a sleep and/or attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) [1, 9, 16–21].
