Therefore, along with the tumor progression of CRC, the expression of epithelial markers E-cadherin and claudin-1 decreases, while the expression of nuclear β-catenin increases, indicating the close relationship of E-cadherin, claudin-1, and nuclear β-catenin expression with the tumor progression and important clinicopathologic determinants of CRC in Taiwan. This evidence concerns the gene CLDN1 and colorectal carcinoma.
