This could be due to the inhibition of cell proliferation and increase in cell apoptosis, which was revealed by a decrease in Ki67 staining (an antigen marker of cell proliferation which has usually been checked to indicate the proliferating ability of cancer cells) (Figure 5(e)) and decrease in Bcl-2 expression and, on the contrary, an increase in caspase-9 expression (Figure 5(f)).
