Sciatic nerve protein lysates were assayed by immunoblot for proteins associated with mitochondrial transcription (TFAM), mitochondrial oxidative phosphorylation at complex III (UQCRC2), complex IV (MTCO1) and complex V (ATP5) and with mitochondrial fission (DNM1L) relative to the housekeeping gene β-actin (ACTB) (Figure 4A) in order to explore the potential role of mitochondrial dysfunction in TAT-induced neuropathy and establish any effects of the PZ intervention on mitochondrial proteins. Here, ACTB is linked to neuropathy.
