NT5E and Abnormal retinal morphology: Right now few studies on the presence of ectonucleotidases in the retina are present in the literature, therefore deeper insights into these ectonucleotidases (CD39 and CD73) in mediating purinergic signaling and interacting with the immune system in relation to retinal pathophysiology might markedly promote our understanding in ATP and adenosine within retina and develop therapeutic modalities to treat retinal diseases.
