Pharmacological manipulation of the PD-1/PD-L1 axis with the use of anti-PD-L1 monoclonal antibodies (nivolumab and pembrolizumab) has already demonstrated positive results in murine models of CLL, inverting the pro-tumoral state of T cells [42], similar to what has been reported in solid cancers as well [42,43].
