A study of Sia et al. analysed 956 HCC samples and found that about 25% of HCC have markers of an inflammatory response with high expression levels of PD-1 and PD-L1, cytotoxic marker expression, such as an interferon gamma (IFN-γ) signature, and low levels of chromosomal aberrations. The gene discussed is IFNG; the disease is hepatocellular carcinoma.
