Recent clinical studies have raised the question of the possible use of Bruton’s tyrosine kinase (BTK) inhibitors (i.e., acalabrutinib, ibrutinib, dasatinib and zanubrutinib) to treat COVID-19 patients, and, surprisingly, it resulted in improved oxygenation in the majority of patients with no discernable toxicity [4], reduced SARS-CoV-2 symptoms (i.e., dyspnea and hypoxia) [5] and reduced thromboinflammation and hypercoagulability [6,7]. This evidence concerns the gene BTK and thrombophilia.
